Over 25 years Management and Technical experience in technology companies. Career path began in low-end capacities (operator, programmer/analyst, systems analyst) and proceeded thru middle management positions (Project Leader, Project Manager, Programming Manager, Manager of Technical Services, Data Center Manager) to high-end Executive appointments at software and services companies (VP of Sales, CMO, COO, VP of BusDev and President). Norm is presently CEO of Tempest Systems, a cutting edge technology-consulting/advisory firm providing business development services to 100+ hardware and software vendors.
Bernard K. Plagman (Chairman, TechPar Group)
Bernie co-founded TechPar Group (TPG), after a career of over thirty years in applying technology to solve business problems. Prior to founding TPG, he served his clients as a Partner at PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PwC) for 18 years. During the course of his career at PwC, Mr. Plagman was responsible for managing relationships with some of the Firm’s most prestigious clients, including FleetBoston Financial, Phillip Morris Cos., Nomura Securities International and AXA. At PwC, Mr. Plagman successfully founded new consulting businesses for the firm in three new markets: Data Warehousing, Customer Relationship Management and Enterprise Application Integration.
Previously he founded and operated The PLAGMAN Group, which specialized in “Technology Knowledge Transfer”. He has published and lectured widely in the field of Information Technology and its successful management. His John Wilely & Sons book, Data Dictionary/Directory Systems: Administration, Implementation and Control, is widely recognized as the pioneering text on Metadata Management. Mr. Plagman co-authored two books published by the Institute for Internal Auditors on topics of Audit and Control of Technology: one on Systems Programming and the other on Telecommunications. He has served on the CODASYL Systems Committee, contributing to the early development of technology architectures for distributed database computing.
Mr. Plagman holds a BBA degree in Applied Statistics from Case Western Reserve University and an MBA in Operations Research from City University of NY, Bernard Baruch Graduate School of Business.
Charles Popper (CEO, TechPar Group)
Charles joined TPG from his most recent role as Vice Chairman and Chief Technologist for Orama Partners, a boutique investment bank servicing and investing in high-tech start-ups, with a strong focus upon Israeli companies. Previously, he was Vice President -- Corporate Computer Resources and CIO at Merck & Co., Inc. from October, 1991 until January, 1999, where he was responsible for all areas of computer and telecommunications technology, including application development, technical support, and operations. Prior to joining Merck, Dr. Popper was a Partner in the Management Consulting practice of Deloitte & Touche, where he specialized in Information Technology consulting to clients in a wide variety of industries, including banking, brokerage, insurance, retail, public sector, health care, transportation, and law.
Dr. Popper received his B.A. (Magna Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa) and Ph.D. degrees from Harvard, in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science. He has worked as a mathematician for the National Security Agency, a research scientist at Bell Laboratories, Director of Advanced Technology for American Express, and Vice President of Advanced Technology at Lehman Brothers Kuhn Loeb. Among his accomplishments are: leadership in the application of microprocessors at Bell Labs, design of the first Bell Labs 8-bit microprocessor chip architecture, design of American Express' image-based cardmember billing system, and introduction of Unix technology to Lehman Brothers. His papers, “Holistic Framework for IT Governance” and “Achieving High-Quality Software Systems: A Comprehensive Approach to Testing and Validation,” were published by the Harvard Program on Information Resource Policy.
Charlene Yu Vaughn (CEO, The Algonquin Group)
Experienced with numerous technology start-ups, financings, turnarounds and mergers, Ms. Vaughn’s career spans from a founding executive of Time Warner Interactive to the President/CEO of Chuck Jones Studio Productions to President/CEO of the Tunes Network, Inc. (tunes.com); the Chairman/Founding CEO of Middlewire to her current position as the CEO/Founder of The Algonquin Group. Ms. Vaughn’s leadership led to the merger/acquisition of CJSP to AOL/Time Warner as well as the merger/acquisition of the Tunes Network, now a part of General Electric (GE)/Universal.
Through her work at The Algonquin Group, Ms. Vaughn spearheads a global consortium of MNCs (including Comerica Bank, Deloitte-Touche, Merrill Lynch, PCCW/Hong Kong Telecom, China Telecom, Heidrick & Struggles, Pillsbury Law, Silicon Valley Bank, UBS, 35+ venture capital and private equity funds, et. al.). The Consortium assists privately held and publicly traded US companies in their expansion into Asia Pac (APAC) and APAC and US companies in their expansion into the US.
Ms. Vaughn serves on many distinguished Boards including Asian American Multi-Technology Association Connect, Business Women’s Network International, Professional Businesswomen of California, Litescape Technologies, SocketMedia and WellChildren International. She was also honored to be selected as one of the few female Charter Members of TiE (The Indus Entrepreneurs) as well.
Mr. Dudai is an experienced entrepreneur and manager, with more than 25 years of experience in M&As, fund raising and business consulting for Israeli industrial companies, construction companies and high-tech ventures. He served for 9 years as Ariel Sharon’s personal assistant and consultant at the Agriculture Ministry, Defence Ministry and a Ministry in the Prime Minister’s office. In 1994, Mr. Dudai received the Minister of Industry and Trade “Israeli Management Award” for over 10 years of supreme results in terms of financial growth of the companies he owned and managed, which made a positive contribution to the Israeli economy.
Prior to Establishing DAY Business Development and Consulting Ltd. Avi was a shareholder and a Director of two multinational (American, Dutch and Israeli) technological ventures, developing security solutions.
From 1990-1998, Avi founded and served as the CEO of an investment company, focusing on large scale investments in complex industrial and construction projects. Among other projects, the company built and managed the most advanced Television Studios at the time in Israel.
From 1984 – 1990, Avi owned and managed an import / export company to countries that had no diplomatic relations with Israel at the time. Using this activity, mutual governmental projects were established in the scientific, military, and civilian fields.
From 1975 – 1984, Avi served as Ariel Sharon's personal assistant and consultant while he was the Agriculture Minister, Defence Minister and a Minister in the Prime Minister office.
From 1970 – 1975, Avi owned and managed a company representing a leading French firm specializing in advanced industrial construction. The company built the Municipal Library of Tel Aviv, one of the first buildings at the Tel Aviv University, among other buildings.
Ziv Leshem (Managing Partner, DAY)
Ziv joined DAY from GigaSpaces, where he was in charge of all marketing activities, during this time, the company grew its revenues by a factor of 10 within two years. Previously, Ziv ran Business Development and Marketing for InfoCyclone and Nareo, two software start-ups. Prior to Nareo, he was a Manager at Accenture strategic services in London. His primary area of focus was Telecommunications & High Tech, where he developed a distribution strategy for a European telecom equipment manufacturer and evaluated a partnering opportunity for an Irish telecom service provider, among other projects. Prior to Accenture, Ziv served as a senior submarine officer in the Israeli Navy. Ziv received his LL.B. (cum laude) from Tel Aviv University’s law school and holds an MBA from INSEAD, Fontainbleau.
Carmel Dohan (Partner, DAY)
Over 10 years of entrepreneurial and management experience. Carmel joined DAY after spending a year in Turkey, establishing a Turkish off-site record storage company.
Prior to that, he established and was the General Manager for 8 years of a services company in the Food & Beverages and Catering market. Carmel sold his shares at that company in 2004, while it was the leading company in its market.
In addition to that, Carmel was an entrepreneur of two start-up companies. In the first one that was established in 2000 he served as its COO. That start-up had developed a dating application basing on wireless internet. In the second one that was established in 2003 he served as its CEO. That start-up had developed credit cards applications based on information-kiosks.
Carmel worked for 2 years as an IT engineer and project manager in a software company that developed CRM software.
Carmel holds an MBA with major in finance and marketing, and a BSC in Industrial engineering with major in IT.
